You think you have seen the world and then you step out of the airport and feel the heat and humidity hit you at 5am in the morning. Welcome to the Jungle! The first 5 days in hotels were as close to normal as you will get in the Amazon. However when the day came and the adventure began… The five day boat tour along the Amazon river. Sleeping in hammocks and swimming in water that you share with Anacondas and Alligators causes you to pause and think. With the great local knowledge and our fearless leader who seems to never sleep (Debora), we managed to battle our way though the jungle and survive. The friendships formed with your fellow exchange students when you are sleeping with in two cm of there hammock are friendships that will surpass time. Sometimes when there are so many mosquitoes you feel you can go no further and then a German, or Canadian will say “Oi Australian want some insect repellent.” You know you are never alone.
