Bom Dia a todos!!!
Ainda estamos em Presidente Figueiredo, mas vamos partir daqui a pouquinho para Manaus. Nestes dias que ficamos aqui tudo ocorreu conforme a programação.
Após a orientação que tivemos na terça-feira, almoçamos no centro da cidade, e partimos para Cachoeira do Santuário, chamada assim porque os índios que habitavam a região usavam o local para fazer suas preces! Com uma força enorme a água com tom amarelado, o local é um paraíso ecológico! Os meninos nadaram muito e curtiram a ultima queda da cachoeira, que encontra uma planície e forma um tipo de lago. Em seguida partimos para a Caverna do Maruaga. Descemos com muita emoção e muita lama (devido à forte chuva) os 90 degraus que levam até a caverna. Demos a volta ao redor da caverna em um córrego de água de mais ou menos 20 centímetros. Os meninos adoraram! Voltamos para nosso hotel, jantamos e assistimos o DVD da viagem do Nordeste Novembro/Dezembro 2009!! Os intercambistas que foram na viagem adoraram e ficaram muito emocionados relembrando dessa fantástica viagem! Em seguida, fomos descansar afinal, todos estavam mortos!!
Ontem cedo partimos para uma pequena cidade vizinha a Presidente Figueiredo: Balbina, uma cidade planejada para morarem as pessoas que trabalharam na década de 70 e 80, na construção da Usina Hidrelétrica de lá, que hoje abastece somente um terço de Manaus. Lá, visitamos o centro de pesquisas de Quelônios e Mamíferos, onde observamos varias tartarugas e o peixe-boi da Amazônia. Tem peixe-boi lá que chega a pesar 350 kg. Em seguida fomos ver e nadar na represa da Usina: infelizmente, um grande cemitério de árvores!! Almoçamos na vila e partimos para a cachoeira da Pedra Furada: os meninos se esbaldaram de tanto nadar! De volta a nosso hotel, jantamos e curtimos a noite jogando sinuca e totó, contando casos e assistindo jogos de futebol pela televisão!!
Nesse exato momento todos estão tomando café da manhã e em seguida vamos para Manaus, onde nossa aventura continua!

We are still in Presidente Figueredo and we are leaving in a few minutes for Manaus. The days that we stayed here, everything went as planned.
After the orientation that we had on Tuesday we had lunch in the city center and then left for the Santuário Waterfall, which is called that because it was where the Indian used to perform their rituals and ceremonies. With enormous force and yellowish water, the place is an ecological paradise! The kids swam a lot in the “pool” under the waterfall. Just after we went for the Maruaga’s cave. With much excitement, we climbed down a 90 step hill in very slippery mud (because of the rain) to get to the cave. Then we walked through a corridor with about 20cm. of water around the cave. The kids loved it! At night, we had dinner at the hotel and after we saw the DVD of the Northeast November/December trip. The students who went to the trip were really excited and happy to remember of that special trip!! Just after, we rested.
Early yesterday we left for a small city close to Presidente Figueiredo, Balbina, a city planned for construction workers in the 1980’s who were building of a hydroelectric dam, that now supplies with all of its energy only 1/3 of Manaus needs. There we visited the Freshwater Mammals and Turtle Research Center, where we observed turtles and freshwater manatees from the Amazon. There are manatees 350kg weigh! Then we took the kids to see and swim at the hydroelectric lake: unfortunately a “tree cemetery”. We had lunch in the city, and soon afterwards we left for the Pedra Furada waterfall: everyone swam a lot!! At night we had dinner at the hotel and enjoyed our free time to play billiards, chat and watch soccer games on the TV!!!
At this moment, everyone is having breakfast and then we will leave for Manaus. From there I will send more news!
